York Beach, Maine

The Nubble Lighthouse (Cape Neddick Light) is an 88 foot high lighthouse in York Beach Maine was built in 1879 as a result of an abundance of boating accidents. There are two layers of brick which are wrapped by steel plates.

Since 1987 the Nubble Light  has been fully automated and is currently not occupied. The Nubble Lighthouse is maintained by the US Coast Guard while the town of York Maine owns and maintains the island that the lighthouse is located on.
